My construction experience started in Marion, Massachusetts. March 1977 at the age of 16 years old. From March 1977 - June 1983 I was a Jr. Partner of S & S Painting & Contracting, a family owed business. During those years I learned the basics of painting, complete home construction, and renovations. Especially on antique homes.
In June 1983, regrettably the other partners decided to go their separate ways in their own business ventures. At age 22 years old I started Scanlon's Residential Maintenance Specialist which i was the sole-proprietor of from June 1981 - until April 1991. I continued increasing my knowledge and skills during that time. In April 1991 our country was at war in Iraq. I joined the Army and I served from 02April 1991 until 30April2011. During my time in the Army I still studied and honed my construction knowledge and skills, as well as I learned to be more organized and precise in every aspect in my life. I founded my business Scanlon's Improvement & Repair Service prior to retiring from military service. It sounded like a good name because I am either improving or repairing. A good catch all name! Simple and to the point!
The most important thing I feel my business does is provide a variety of quality services which customers need and want.
Instead of dealing with several companies, I provide the quality work you are looking for all in one business. If I do not provide the service you are looking for, then I will find out how to do it or assist the customer in finding reputable businesses that can.
It is all about helping the customer. Word of mouth is always the best advertisement. I have worked very hard to build a good solid business reputation. As in any business, there will be some customers that no matter what you do you cannot satisfy. I have numerous repeat jobs from customers and referrals that have been completely satisfied with my work.
"If a job is to be done, then it is to be done right." For those customers whom have the desire to do a project, yet lack the knowledge and experience, I will gladly work with and teach them.
I strive to treat every customer the way I want to be treated - a straight forward approach and develop good working relationships. Other companies may offer similar services. My services are excellent. I can honestly say that because I maintain integrity and I guarantee my work.
The majority of my work is small repairs. I do have the knowledge, skills, and the additional manpower for custom building, remodeling, and large renovation jobs. I may be a small business, yet I know what is required and I have the ability to get the job done, when others are still scratching their heads trying to figure out where to start!
